All inclusive how-to guide to living or retiring in Baja Mexico

medical tourism

As retirees or those close to retiring, many of us are concerned with Medical Care and the associated costs, especially if we have no medical coverage or insufficient medical coverage.

What is Medical Tourism? Medical Tourism is defined as; the act of traveling to other countries to obtain medical, dental, and/or surgical care. The phrase was originally coined by the travel industry. The most common type of Medical Tourism is for Dental Work.

My first experience with MedDent Tourism was driving to Tijuana years ago with an older friend where he had some major Dental Work done. I thought he was a little crazy but it turned out that the Dentist, a Mexican National, was a former college roommate of his sister. The Dentist had attended Dental School in the US and had originally practiced in the US. However, she moved her practice across the border because of the prohibitive cost of malpractice insurance.

There are many practicing Dentists in Mexico who have been trained in Mexico and they are just as competent as their American counterparts. Some of you may have already taken advantage of the lower medical costs in Mexico.

Check out the video in the second Video Box. There are other videos embedded in the main one. Some of them may be of interest.

I have also included a link to a website for an American Company, with a 10 year history, that specializes in matching clients with medical problems with competent Medical Professionals in Mexico.

If you know of a friend or relative in need of medical care at more reasonable rates, then refer them to the video. We will be starting a discussion on this topic in the forum for your input. Some of you may have already experienced Medical Tourism. Would you like to share some of those experiences?

Hi Founder Dude,
We had a thread going on Medical care, I think in the Boomers to Mexico group. Want to combine them? And the short version: I feel we get BETTER care in Mexico than the U.S.. I know that’s been my experience. Here the health care provider has the time to listen to the patient, they’re not rushed, so they’re more likely to get all the pertinent info and make a better diagnosis
Take care
