beaches
The northern Baja beaches and coastal regions are incredibly breathtaking. There are gorgeous unspoiled beaches all up and down the Baja California coastline. Unfortunately, as pretty as the water looks, one cannot really swim in its waters without a wetsuit till August or September and even then its pretty darn frigid !! Every inch of the northern Pacific coast is dotted with beautiful accesible beaches and or picturesque craggy jagged rocklines. It would be impossible to discuss all the beaches, but I will note some that are very popular in the Ensenada area.
I think you will notice a common scene in most of the photos - NO people. This is what makes the entire area so very inviting. Obviously, you are not going to have to beg for beach space. Some of these pictures were taken in winter.

Ensenada beach. For a large city with many inhabitants, the beach in Ensenada proper is surprisingly wonderful. It is clean and VERY wide at low tide. I was pleasantly surprised by its beauty. Not much shell activity.

Estero Beach. Very poular resort and vacation destination. I have found thousands of sand dollars all up and down the accesible parts. very beautiful and but not very crowded at any one time due to its off the beaten track location…

Punta Banda and Labufadora areas. Six Mile Beach, Punta Banda Peninsula. (on the “Spit”) This beach is clean and uncrowded. I find sand dolars by the dozens. As you wander north toward Estero Beach, it is virtually deserted save for a pack of sea lions.
horseback rides are available on 6 Mile Beach as are glider rides in bi-planes. The point here is the same point in picture 12.

ensenada can be seen in the distance

Erendira. My favorite spot on earth…
erendira is isolated and as deserted as it gets. Chances are if you go off season you won’t see a soul. You can camp on the water and be the only person there.
Here you’ll see rock outcropping and rock jetties that you can actually crawl under. The tidepools are incredible to explore. Some parts of the tidepools are moss covered as seen in this picture. Looking down the beach its just clean khaki sand, turquoise water, mountain backdrops and sunny blue skies, with no humans, stretching as far as the eye can see. Heaven.
