All inclusive how-to guide to living or retiring in Baja Mexico

farmacias

baja farmacia 1It is definitely true that one can purchase prescription medication without a prescription at any one of many farmacias in Mexico. Just about every street corner has one.  There is never a shortage of them. You see them in strip malls, shopping centers, on the sides of deserted highways, middle of a busy street  – there could be three within one city block, on the same side of the road. Whatever ails you, you will find a cure. Mostly the prices are much cheaper than the US.

Here is my take on shopping for prescription drugs…

1. always shop around.

2. prices vary from store to store.

3. bring the old bottle or box with you.

4. know what dosage you need.

5, have the farmacist look the drug up in his reference guide if its your first time.

6. there can be 4 or 5 manufacturers of the same drug.

7. if they are out or they dont have the proper dosage, have farmacist call another of their stores to see if its there. Often times this will be the case.

8.  before you pay, make CERTAIN it is the correct drug.
