labufadora

A very famous tourist attraction as well as wonderful residential community, home to more than 100 families, either on a part time or full time basis. People aspiring to read, write, paint and relax come and move to Labufadora by the droves, it is so peaceful and breathtaking.
Labufadora, also known as the BLOWHOLE, or the “snort”, a marine geyser at the tip of the Punta Banda peninsula; is a fascinating phenomenon seen in only a few places in the world. A deep underwater canyon leads to a cave in the cliff, gouged out over eons of time by trillions of tons of pounding surf. The surge of heavy ocean swells is channeled through the canyon and forced beneath the surface into a narrow, tunnel like entrance of the cave and bursts forth, spewing hundreds of gallons of water into the air above and onto onlookers who stand in just the right places.
If you go in the summer, this is the best time, as you will undoubtedly get wet. On the way to the blowhole you will pass thru many little Mexican curios, trinket shops and restaurants. Bright green Habana Bananas is one you dont want to miss. Outrageous jungle decor and a lovely little gift shop beckon the wayward tourist. The many shopkeepers along the way will hound tourists to death. Just look the other direction and they leave you alone. Go to the bathroom before entering Labufadora, they charge .50. Parking is $2.00. There are a lot of farmacias here, if you say you live in LABUFADORA they will give you a 10% discount. Hey it works for me!!
Legends say the spout, accompanied by a tumultuous crash emerging from the blowhole today, is the spout and fulmination of a whale trapped as a baby and now a full grown leviathan.
If you enter the actual rancho or camp, to the left, just before entering the marketplace, you will be able to see the kayak and dive tour center, Dales dive shop and camping areas. $10 a night to camp, but it overlooks the ocean. Many tour buses are seen here with passengers eager for a dive or a kayak in the rough Pacific surf.
